Understanding the PP Raffia Price Data
The prices on this page are benchmarked against Platts (S&P Global Commodity Insights) weekly assessments for polypropylene raffia grade, South Asian sub-continent. Figures reflect C&F India import offer levels in USD/MT and are updated every Monday following the Platts assessment window.
PP raffia prices are closely correlated with Brent crude oil and downstream naphtha-to-propylene conversion costs. A sustained move in Brent typically feeds through to polymer offers within one to two weeks. Chinese PP export volumes, Indian domestic demand from the FIBC and woven-sack sector, and pre-monsoon inventory building are the other key variables that cause the PP-to-Brent spread to widen or compress.
The week-over-week change column in the table below highlights directional momentum. A positive WoW figure on both PP Raffia and Brent in the same week generally indicates feedstock-led price pressure; a PP move decoupled from Brent suggests supply-demand factors in the polymer market itself.

and naphtha feedstock costs, Asian propylene contract prices,
Chinese PP export pricing, domestic Indian demand from the
FIBC and woven sack industry, and monsoon-season inventory
build patterns. The PP-to-Brent spread shown on this page
tracks the polymer conversion premium over crude.
Platts (S&P Global Commodity Insights) publishes weekly
price assessments for polypropylene raffia-grade polymer for
the South Asian sub-continent. These reflect actual import
offer levels for India and are widely used as a benchmark
for raw material procurement in the Indian packaging industry.
Polypropylene raffia-grade resin is converted into flat
tapes and woven fabrics used for FIBC bulk bags (jumbo
bags), woven sacks, cement bags, fertiliser packaging,
agricultural shade nets, and geotextiles. India is one
of the largest global markets for PP raffia in flexible
intermediate bulk container (FIBC) manufacturing.
