Platts PP raffia grade for the Indian sub-continent rose 35 USD/MT to 1325 (+2.71%), a third consecutive weekly gain and the sharpest of the three. The grade is now back above its early-June level, having recovered 235 USD/MT, about 22%, from the 1090 low of early July. It sits around 9% below April's 1460 peak.

Crude did more than recover. Brent settled at 94.50 USD/bbl, clearing its late-July high of 91.50 to reach its firmest in about two months, after briefly dipping towards 87 a fortnight ago. That is a fresh push higher rather than a bounce back to an old level, and it keeps firm support under resin offers.

The read ahead has shifted with crude. A week ago raffia looked close to fair value for oil in the low 90s. With Brent now through 94 and at a two-month high, resin is once again chasing a feedstock level it has not seen since the spring, so the lag points to further support for offers over the next week or two unless crude reverses. The plateau case has weakened, and it would take a clear drop in oil to reopen the softening view.

For buyers the recovery is complete and the balance has tilted upward. Raffia is above its June levels and crude is at a two-month high. With freight also holding near its summer peak, delivered cost sits at its firmest since the spring, and the near-term risk stays to the upside. The cheap-resin window of July is well closed. For known requirements there is little case for waiting, and the useful questions remain which resin position a quote is built on and how long both the resin and freight components hold.
