Platts PP raffia grade for the Indian sub-continent slipped 5 USD/MT to 1375 (-0.36%), its first decline after a run of weekly gains that began in late July. The small dip comes a week after the grade peaked at 1380, and leaves raffia near its highest level since the spring, about 6% below April's 1460 peak and 285 USD/MT above the 1090 low of early July.
Crude moved the other way again. Brent rose 4.69% to 100.50 USD/bbl, recovering the 100 line after easing into the mid-90s through late September. Oil has now spent several weeks oscillating around 100, having given back most of the mid-September spike to 108.
The more telling point is what that spike did not do. When Brent reached 108 in mid-September, the tracker's history pointed to resin climbing well into the 1400s on the usual lag. Raffia topped at 1380 instead and has now edged down. The pass-through this cycle has run below its normal strength, which suggests polymer-side supply is ample enough to cap offers even with crude firm.
