Platts assessed PP raffia grade for the Indian sub-continent at approximately 1250 USD/MT, broadly flat on the week after three consecutive gains (confirm exact figure and WoW). The move that lifted the grade 160 USD/MT off its 08 July low has levelled off. Raffia now holds near 1250, roughly 14% below April's 1460 peak.
Brent eased again, settling the week near 80 USD/bbl (confirm). The risk premium that built into crude through mid-July has now largely unwound, and the recovery seen in the days just after the 29 July assessment did not hold.
The plateau is what the lag pointed to. Resin spent three weeks catching up to the crude strength of early and mid July. With that catch-up complete and feedstock heading lower, the upward pull on offers has faded. If Brent stays near 80, resin should soften into the second half of August on the usual delay.
