Platts PP raffia grade for the Indian sub-continent held at 1325 USD/MT, unchanged on the week after three consecutive gains. The pause leaves the grade about 22% above the 1090 low of early July and around 9% below April's 1460 peak.

Crude did not pause. Brent rose 3.70% to 98.00 USD/bbl, a second straight weekly gain that takes it close to 100 for the first time since the early summer. The gap between the two is the story this week, with resin standing still while its main feedstock pushes on towards triple figures.

That gap is most likely the lag rather than a top. Resin offers track crude by a week or two, and the move in Brent from the high 80s to 98 has yet to feed through. On the tracker's own history, a crude rise of this size normally pulls resin higher than it has managed so far, which points to further support for offers over the coming weeks if oil holds. The alternative reading is that resin is meeting resistance around 1325, though one flat week after a fast run is not enough to confirm that.

Freight has settled at a high level. Drewry's World Container Index was stable at 4,465 USD per forty-foot container on 03 September, holding within about 4% of its July peak as firmer Transpacific rates offset softer Asia-Europe lanes. Shipping is neither adding to nor relieving cost pressure this week, though it remains well above where it sat in spring.

For buyers the direction of travel is still upward. Crude is near 100 and resin has not yet reflected it, so the feedstock signal points to firmer offers over the coming weeks. Delivered cost already sits at its highest since the spring, and the near-term risk stays to the upside. For known requirements there is little case for waiting, and the pending pass-through of 98 crude is a reason to fix sooner rather than later. It remains worth confirming which resin position a quote is built on and how long both the resin and freight components hold.
